Bio
Daniel Freire Cruz was born on 21/04/1988 in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. Is nearing completion of the Undergraduate College of Music in Saxophone of the Espírito Santo – FAMES and work gazetted as a musician in the Band of the Military Police of Espírito Santo.
His first contact with music was at age eight, the services of the Baptist Church of Praia do Canto, Vitória, which gathers with his family until the present day. At the time, received musical guidance of teacher Bernice Rose and conductor Almir Rosa. After only 15 years met and adopted the saxophone, receiving great support from their parents.
In 2003, he joined the Training Course Musical FAMES, with emphasis on Saxophone, taking lessons for four years, with the teacher, saxophonist and conductor Antonio Paulo Filho.
In 2007, creates the Vitória Sax Quartet, a group that has a distinctive sound, blending the Brazilianness that is in the blood, with influences from American jazz and European academic technique, resulting in a bold project, dynamic and interactive. A faithful witness of music and performances that draw audiences of all ages and persuasions.
In 2010, he was invited by his fellow artists to participate in the project "Brasilidade Geral", which, through its activities, has achieved high recognition within the Brazilian music scene. Individually or in small groups, the components of the project have participated in performances with the great names of MPB, such as Djavan, João Bosco, Elba Ramalho, Fafa de Belém, Zeca Pagodinho, Zizi Possi, Leila Pinheiro, Guilherme Arantes, Marcos Valle, Jorge Vercilo, Belo, Celso Fonseca, Mauricio Einhorn, Arthur Maia, recording the soundtrack of the movie "the Father", Márcio Montarroio, Toninho Horta, Leo Gandelman, Vitor Santos Idriss Boudriua, Mauro Diniz, Jota Moraes, Paulo Moura, Mart 'Nalia, Baby Brazil, Cassiane, among others. The project "Brasilidade Geral" remains very active, performing and successfully fulfilling the goals it has set itself.
During his training, had the opportunity to take classes and/or play with Célio Paula, Dilson Florêncio, Marcelo Martins, Ademir Junior, Ze Canuto, Marcelo Coelho, Vitor Santos, Mauro Senise, Duda, Paulo Levi, Fabio Ninn, Elba Ramalho, Ian Guest(HUN), Arno Bornkamp(HOL), Ray Moore(EUA), Pete Best (UK), among others.
