Marcus Mitchell

Bio

Marcus Mitchell is not only a rising saxophone artist in smooth jazz, he is also CEO and President of 24th Music, a division of MHM Entertainment Group - a multi-faceted entertainment company based out of Maryland.

Marcus and his company 24th Music is committed to the company's motto of "Creative Music with Substance" which is demonstrated in all of his works and other artists under 24th Music. Not only does Mitchell's MHM (Marcus Horatio Mitchell) Entertainment Group serve as the parent company to Maryland-based 24th Music, but it is also home to Armodeonce Venture, an investment entity that will be involved in future investment projects and also Three Sheets of Music Publishing.

The dream of this future millionaire began while he was attending high school at Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Maryland. While in high school, Marcus received most of his business knowledge while working as an in-house consultant and producer for Mathew Knowles Music World.

His biggest accomplishment while working closely with Mathew and the powerful group Destiny's Child was getting Destiny's Child to perform at President George W. Bush's victory party in 2001. From there, he took what he learned from Mathew Knowles and formed 24th Music.

By 2001 Marcus graduated from high school with a 3.8 GPA and was on his way to Raleigh North Carolina's Shaw University, the oldest HBCU in the south studying Journalism. While attending Shaw, Marcus operated 24th Music and also performed all around Raleigh with the N-Tune Band. His name quickly became well-known making him one of the most viewed acts in the Triangle area. Marcus was quickly making a name for himself and by his senior year in college he was able to obtain an investment from Frankie Perry of Wachovia Bank to help jumpstart 24th Music. Marcus has worked with many artists such as Mike Phillips, Kim Waters, Marcus Johnson, and Destiny's Child just to name a few.

This year, 2005 has been a great year for Marcus. On September 5, Labor Day weekend, he performed at the 3rd Annual Jazz Festival at Cooper's Field in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He shared the stage with Paul Taylor, Peter White and the Rippingtons (featuring Russ Freeman). He also headlined at the legendary Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington, D.C. Mitchell's CD entitled "Jumpin'" is the first release under 24th Music and is being distributed nationwide.

In 2006 Marcus will make history by becoming the youngest independent executive to be on the voting committee for the Grammy Awards. He will also be building a state-of-the-art office complex that will house a fully functional recording studio and will release more projects. At the young age of 22, Marcus Mitchell has accomplished so much and will continue to be a driving force in the industry.
